Scalzi's Weekend Assignment #54

Weekend Assignment #54: Tell us all a single piece of wisdom you've learned from personal life experience. It can be a small thing, it can be a big thing, a simple tip or trick or the most important thing you've ever learned from life. But whatever it is, you should be able to state it in one sentence. That way people will remember it easier.

Extra Credit: Tell us: Would you have listened to your own bit of advice as a teenager? Be honest, now.

Here's my piece of wisdom:

It's all going to work out in the end!

As long as I can remember, whenever I fretted about something, Papa used to say, "It's all going to work out in the end.  It may not work out exactly as you think it should.  But, it's all going to work out, so there's no sense in worrying about it."

I have found this piece of advice to be so true.  My worrying isn't changing anything and things just seem to work themselves out, often without my help!

Extra Credit:  Of course I wouldn't have listened to this advice when I was a teenager!  Isn't everything catastrophic when you're that age?

  2. THIS IS SO TRUE!!! It takes a long time to believe that or trust that, but looking back at certain situations...yes, 'It's all going to work out'. Good Advice. --- I still worry about things though, I think it is just in my nature. ---

  3. Great piece of advice! It is so true. I find that even when it doesn't work out the way I want it too, down the road I realize it led to something even better.

  4. We never listen to advice as teenagers...lol! If so, I wouldn't have gotten married until I was like 30...and not been soooo anxious to have children right away! I'm sure we would all do things differently if we could go back and listen to advice given to us by the wiser generation. We can at least learn from our own "mistakes" right? Thank you for visiting my journal, Lisa and Celeste. I love looking at yours.

  5. I'm a worry wart, so it's tough to turn it off . . .  but, REALLY, in the end, what good did the worrying do?  lol
