17 years ago today...........

Seventeen years ago today..........8/8/88.........I quit smoking.

Cold turkey.  Went to bed the night before and woke up to becoming a non-smoker!  It was tough.  One of the toughest things I have ever accomplished. But I did it!

I loved smoking.  I bought in to the hype of the sophisticated woman style of cigarettes that they advertised....long, sexy Virginia Slims

Pepsi and cigarettes were my only vices in life back then.  ::Big Sigh::

I miss those cigarettes at times, but never enough to pick one up again.  I still drink the Pepsi, but it's Diet Pepsi now, and sometimes it's Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi to keep my heart from fluttering too much.  Damn, I live a boring life!

Which reminds me of a joke my Papa used to tell.......

There was this old woman who stood on a corner every day, beating a drum and loudly testifying to the change in her life since she found the Lord....

She said, "I used to smoke....I used to drink....and I used to fornicate....NOW all I do is stand on this here corner and beat this damn drum!"

Goodnight all!  :)
