She generally gave herself good advice (though she very seldom followed it).
~Lewis Carroll
As I mentioned in a few previous entries, one should NEVER, ever, rent one's property to friends or family! My rental property is/was "rented" without the benefit of a rental agreement/security deposit....to one of Tam's seriously crazy best friends, her 4th and newly married husband who just happens to be an alcoholic, and her two teenage daughters....one of who is a mother of a two year old son.
They decided to quit paying rent nearly 4 months ago and needless to say...this has now created all kinds of problems for their family, mine and of course we're now ENEMIES! Imagine that!
Tam is furious that "CRAZY WOMAN" would treat "us" that way and well, I am once again realizing how my co-dependent/rescuing behavior got ME into this ugly situation.
Yeah, I know. I am shaking my head too, amazed that I would again show such a lack of common sense, since I've repeatedly rented to friends and family in the past. You'd think I'd have learned my lesson. I think I have this time. Today I will seek the assistance of a property manager for all future business.
BUSINESS. Yes, business.
See, I am learning!
Oh....but what about the girl fight you say?
Yesterday, I arranged to begin the property cleanup, as it was evident to me that they had abandoned what was left behind. I mean, Stevie Wonder could tell. The utilities were off, the place was trashed and it was obvious that they hadn't been inside for days. That's abandoned in my book!
A friend planned to drive his flat-bed/stake-side pick up there to load up the debris, a man was hired to start on the lawn and Tam and her boyfriend were set to meet me at the property to lend a hand. Ever the procrastinator, I was proud of my can-do attitude in the midst of what I initially felt was going to be an insurmountable task at hand. I was quickly deflated when I pulled up at the house and saw the "former" tenant's car in the driveway!
I decided it wouldn't be a good idea to stay on the property considering her propensity toward dramatic, confrontational behavior. I quickly called Tam's cell phone and left her a message that I was leaving the property and that she should NOT come to the house as CRAZY WOMAN was there! Then I left.
Unfortunately, Tam didn't get the message until she drove up in the driveway a few minutes later, only to have CRAZY WOMAN pull in behind her and block her. CRAZY WOMAN then exited her vehicle and stuck her finger in Tam's face repeatedly THROUGH THE OPEN CAR WINDOW, while yelling obscenities and threats about how we "burglarized" HER HOUSE!
Yes, she called it, HER HOUSE!

Anyway...I didn't see it, but it was pretty exciting according to Tam's boyfriend. He was thoroughly impressed by Tam's solid...... 1,2,3 PUNCHES to CRAZY WOMAN'S FACE, that occured after Tam decided enough was enough, and she got out of the car...only to be "sucker punched" by that maniacal former BEST FRIEND FOREVER who was calling Tam a "CRACK WHORE!" Yep, I am told it was very similar to the above graphic!
For clarification...Tam's a lot of things, but she's NO 'CRACK WHORE' thankyouverymuch!
I am surprised they both didn't go to jail. But, despite a report to the local Sheriff's Department, they considered it a "civil matter" however, I would disagree on the fight aspect of the situation. Lucky for the "girls" I suppose.
In the meantime, according to the Sheriff's Department, CRAZY WOMAN still has "standing" in MY house, because she has belongings there and I didn't officially complete the "eviction process" because I knew she was moving.
Is that some crazy crap, or what?
Wanna hear something even crazier?
CRAZY WOMAN'S teenage daughter, the one with the 2 year old son... came by yesterday saying her "crazy and violent" mother beat her up and kicked her out of the "new" house over the weekend. Teenage daughter then asked ME, if she and her toddler son could live with US!!!
US??
Do I HAVE CO-DEPENDENT RESCUER written on my forehead?
You know...if it wasn't for Al-Anon, I probably would have said yes!
Yes...I am that frickin' sick myself.
But, I am getting better!
Thank you God!
(And...what do you wanna bet that CRAZY WOMAN now has my car keys and I won't ever get them back?)

Oh My GOSH!!!
ReplyDeleteStart legal proceedings to kick that bitch out! oof sorry that was rude right? But seriously?!!!
Wow. just wow.
(hugs)
Lub u lots!
no thats a whole lotta drama! Geez-how long can she hang on there? Finish the eviction! If you still can-that just sucks. Sorry people suck like that.
ReplyDeleteThat is insane! I'm sorry you're going through this. I hope you can work things out quickly!
ReplyDeleteHow terribly sad that it has come down to all this BS...thank heavens no one was seriously hurt during this last incident. Here's hoping that this "situation" will be resolved very soon...Take care and it goes without saying..stay away from this Crazy Bitch!
ReplyDeleteNo good deed goes unpunished.....
ReplyDeleteYikes. Is there a way to change the locks on your car? And you'll definitely need to have the locks changed on the house.
ReplyDeleteWhat is WRONG with this woman? I think I'd be filing all sorts of suits against her.
Wish I was closer...I'd help you clean up.
XOXO
Man oh man! What a situation! If that lunatic does have your car keys I hope she doesn't know where you live. If so you may want to think about re-keying your car. I hope I didn't just make your day worse by writing that, but it seems like this girl will stop at nothing!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised the police weren't all about issuing some assault charges. They usually do that over just some pushing and shoving.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking these people ain't going willingly...
Remo loves a good cat-fight, especially one that involves someone throwing real punches.
ReplyDelete"Pow!!" "Kerplunk!" BIFF!"
(Batman comic-book sound-effects added)
WOW! Talk about drama. That woman is crazy and I'm soooo very glad your friend gave her some of it back. Sorry though you had to learn the hard way to always get things in writing. Even friends and family can suck after a while. Hope you can evict her and boot her ass very soon.
ReplyDeleteWow...major drama. Yuk. Do whatever you need to do. Take care of yourself and your stuff.
ReplyDeleteOh lordy, I'm sorry darlin'!
ReplyDeleteYou need to tell the drama llama to quit following you home, cher! Of course, first you might need to invite it over along w/ some of its family in order to get the crazy lady outta your house! Remember - posession is 9/10ths of the law, so when next CL is gone, get her stuff moved to the curb & change the locks! (Post an eviction notice first, tho, just to make sure it's legal...)
ReplyDeleteOh my God that is crazy shit right there! But BEAUTIFULLY illustrated by your widgets and pics!
ReplyDeleteHope you find your keys.
xo
WOW, what a woman, what a drama. Hope all works out well.
ReplyDeleteI started typing a reply, but erased it when I realized I had nothing nice to say ... (About the biotch, not about YOU!) so I'll just wish you luck on getting her out of your house, finding your keys and hiring someone to manage the property!! XOX ~~Kath~~
ReplyDeletePS I hope you kicked the daughter to the curb, too!
Crazy people ... damn. I've had my run-in with crazy people.
ReplyDeleteThey can crazy your brain up something fierce.
Run away. Run far far away from crazies, they spread their disease on everything they touch.
Lottsa luck to you. Seems you are going to need it.
Lisa, thanks for your comment about the dolphins. Giggle, believe me I havent seen dolpins either. After 4 weeks in Munich and being apart from ym hot man, I know where my mind is. Looks like I am in good company ;-) let me know more about your guy! Hugs, Paula xx
ReplyDeleteyou have such a wonderful sense of humor about this!! wow, what a wild life we live!! you did say no right?
ReplyDeleteand i was going to mention you need to be careful about going in and removing property when renting, those freeloaders have rights you know and you just need to check your local landlord/tenants rights to make sure you can't be prosecuted for removing stuff too soon. Good idea about property management, what took you so long?
Oh my lord! This is crazy! My parents "rent" a house to my brother. He is suppose to pay rent but hasn't for the past 2 years. I'm sure a lot of drama is about to happen in my family as my parents are fed up with paying 2 house payments.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with getting crazy woman out of there and FAST!
We have much in common. I have a history of rescuing too. I vow to never do it again, and then I do it again, (each case seems so different for some reason), but seriously, no more. No more rescuing.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds heavy and not something that I'd want to be involved in. I sometimes think that family can be crazier than anybody else.
