Saturday Six - Episode 3 (I didn't do the first 2 episodes) My answers appear in red.
Compliments of Patrick over at Patrick's Place.
1. Many people who criticize the media complain that there is too much "bad" news and not enough "good" news. If you had the option of subscribing to a newspaper that had only positive neighborhood stories, would you?
Certainly, because we need to absorb that goodness and it would make us all better people. At least I would hope it would. It's kinda like....garbage in, garbage out...when you are just paying attention to all the negative. Well, that is what I tell my kids when they want to watch horror movies, which I can't do, ever. I used to love that old tv show, Real People. There are so many interesting, giving and special people in this world and it's about time that we honor those who are out there, livin' right, and developing good! Don't get me wrong, I would still have to hear all the down and dirty regular news because I am a news junky. I just have to know what's happening in my world. But some really good news on top of it would be great! Here's a quote......."Little progress can be made by merely attempting to repress what is evil; our great hope lies in developing what is good."
Calvin Coolidge, 30th President of the United States
So, where do I subscribe?
2. In what section of a bookstore are you most likely to be found?
Self-help and the bargain book areas. There's always room for improvement in my life. I have found some of my favorite books, marked waaaaay down in the bargain section.
3. What's the most obsessive-compulsive thing you do in a normal day?
I am thoroughly addicted to lip balm, like Chap Stick. I don't really care what brand I have, as long as I have it. There's one in my uniform pocket, one on this desk, in my purse, nightstand and an extra one in a makeup bag in my office, just in case. I have to have it!!!! I would not be able to stand it if I was forced to do without it and I would have some serious anxiety, until I resolved the situation. I am similarly addicted to Diet Pepsi! My gosh, I am such a wierdo!
4. Name the oldest thing in your refrigerator. If it's not identifiable, give a best guess at what it once was. (And if you have to guess, throwing it away is recommended.)
When I promoted 2 years ago, a friend gave me a bottle of Framboise Raspberry Wine from Bonny Doon Winery. It's a dessert wine I believe and she recommended that it be poured over vanilla ice cream. Sounds heavenly, but I just haven't got around to opening it yet. Since I just got a new fridge, I don't have much old stuff in it. But, if I had to answer this question a couple of weeks ago, it would be something that I'd have to guess at, since it would surely have been unidentifiable!

5. If you could have one of the following powers, which would you choose and why?
A) Freezing time for everyone but yourself
B) Becoming Invisible at will
C) Reading Minds
D) Moving Objects
Most definitely, becoming invisible at will! There have been so many times that I've wanted to be a fly on the wall! And, it's something that would really help me when I become a private investigator after I retire.
6. What New Year's resolution have you already broken, just five months into 2004?
Resolutions? Ummmm...I didn't make no stinkin' resolutions!

About the lip balm thing...I am the same way. This is my analysis of the situation (for me, anyway...) I have chronic sinus "issues," so I breathe through my mouth most of the time (no "mouth-breather" comments, please!) This makes my lips chronically dry. And I just can't STAND that feeling. Also, before I developed my "addiction" to lip balm (Blistex is my drug of choice) my lips used to peel, crack, and just be generally miserable. They don't anymore...so, hey, what the heck? Lisa :-]
