Dancing Queen............

So many invites. So little time.

Oh yeah. Good times.

In my younger days, I was a little too shy and reserved to fully relax and enjoy myself in a bar/club, but lately I've decided that life's too short to pass up an opportunity for some fun and laughs. I am accepting all invitations and making up for some that I let pass by!

Last night I was invited for a girl's night out to celebrate a birthday with a few drinks and dancing to the blaring sounds of a mediocre DJ who managed to disappoint some in the group as he was lacking the ever popular women's dance tune...Buttons, by the Pussycat Dolls.

Loosen up my buttons babe
Saying what you going to do to me......

Instead, I found my self dancing to CRAZY BITCH, by Buckcherry.

And...liking it, I might add.

Some of you may be like me and not very familiar with today's "modern" and explicit music lyrics. I exited the dance floor saying to one of my friends, "Did I just get up in front of God and everyone, in this little small town bar and dance to a song that says...
You're a crazy bitch, but you F*@& so good, I am on top of it. When I dream, I'm doing you all night........"

Ummmmmm. YES!!

Like Rate-a-Record on American Bandstand...I think it's got a good beat and you can dance to it!

I am soooo downloading that sucker to my Ipod!!

Should I be ashamed of myself?

  1. I liked it better when I couldn't understand what they were saying. Like Bob Dylan. Or Elton John. Never could get what they were saying.

  2. I love this entry! I know exactly what you mean. My younger self was always to concerned with what others would think to relax and let the music move me. Secretly, I loved to dance but only did it in my room alone. Now, I get up and move to the beat that I hear. I've had the same reaction to song lyrics. Half of the time, I don't really understand all of the lyrics, then there will be this moment of clarity and I'll realize what I've been dancing too over and over again! No shame, my dear, none at all, just keep on being the dancing queen.

  4. There was the one night at karaoke when myself and two of my friends acted out and sang "Goodbye Earl" by the Dixie Chicks. I played Earl. I was wearing a skirt.

There was the time my friends Joey, Kristin and myself stood on our seats in the Waffle House and sang to the jukebox at 2am.

There was the night I sang, "Don't You Want Me Baby?" with a fabulous gay man in one of the most popular gay bars in Atlanta.

There have been about two dozen times that I've sung, "Ive Got You Babe" with my friend Michael (not my husband) in the bar in the bowling alley in the bad part of town...

Be the dancing queen, honey! It keeps us young!
    love ya!

  7. I'm hopelessly archaic when it comes to today's music. Hell, I'm still trying to figure out the Beatles.....
