The problem with not preparing the Thanksgiving meal yourself is the lack of leftovers.
When a guest in someone else’s house you just don’t ask for at least enough turkey, dressing and cranberry sauce "to go" to make just one sandwich the next day. Unless of course, I was a guest at my Aunt Sherry's house! She'd have fixed me up! There’s nothing like a cold, white meat turkey sandwich, topped with a little stuffin’ and a dollop of cranberry sauce for lunch the day after Thanksgiving. ::Big Sigh::I guess I will just have to do the Christmas meal this year.
After reviewing the huge stack of yesterday’s after Thanksgiving sales flyers, I was thrilled when I heard Tricia and her daughter were going to brave the crowds, and I could tag along.
But, they were leaving early. O’dark thirty early. Ick. I wavered. Then her dad, someone with greater sense than I, reminded me that I had a cast on my leg and said "What if someone steps on your toes?!"
Geez, what was I thinking? Common sense prevailed and since I am never one to miss a bargain, I just gave Tricia my shopping list. What a friend!
At 7:30 this morning I called her on her cell phone to see how the shopping was going. Laughing, she said, "Oh you should be sooooo glad you didn’t come along!" I could hear all the commotion in the background and she said she’d been waiting in line at Sears for an hour to pay for her "bargains!"
Knowing what a busy woman she is, I said, "Your time is worth way more than those great deals!"
And, being the friend that I am, I said, "Oh, I just remembered one more thing that I need you to pick up at Target."
Well, after all, I am in a cast!

Boy, YOU know how to take advantage of your handicap! LOL! As for the turkey...I'll bet your hostess would not have minded making up a "to go" bag for you. I know that we sure have more leftovers than we can (or NEED to) eat. Glad to know you had a good day! Lisa :-]
