I went back to work today, with mixed emotions. After being off for nearly 3 months with Papa's illness and operations, it was terribly hard to get out of bed and back to the drudgery. Now I know why we have so-called "early intervention" people who assist and encourage staff to get back to work as soon as possible after an illness or operation. They say that the longer one is off work, the harder it is to get them to return! I can honestly testify to that! I would have loved to retire and never darken the Entrance Gate again....... but it's just not the right time.
Two years will fly by in nothing flat and then I will be able to retire with a comfortable income and my choice of some nifty 25 year service gift!
I think I'll get the watch!
Oh, and lets not forget the proclamation from the governor thanking me for my dedicated service....it's suitable for framing!
Great addition to the obligatory "ego" wall. Geez.....I can't wait.............................
There is some chatter about the state possibly giving us an incentive to retire early, in order to get rid of some of us "old timers" according to some of my fellow geezers today.
Something like that would make it exactly the right time to go! I will keep my fingers crossed, because after 23 years of this type of work, it's taken it's toll. It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it!
When I was a little girl, I always said I wanted to be a cowgirl when I grew up.......
I shoulda been a cowgirl!

You made me LOL! For twenty five years of service they should worship the ground you walk on. Loyalty and commitment like that is invaluable.
