The Continuing Saga of Bubba

To those of you who read my Bubba's Binge entries this is a little background info and then I will continue the story..............

Bubba is one of our two adopted children, who were removed from their birthmother's care due to her involvement in the "child abuse homocide" of one of their siblings and her alcoholism.  Bubba came to live with us at age 8 (now 17) and the baby, a girl now 12 came to our home when she was 3 months old.  She is related by blood to us, he however, is not as determined by DNA, but that didn't matter and we adopted them both.  Shortly after Bubba's last binge......actually November 11, 2003, he ran away from home to his "birthfamily" in Oklahoma.  We are devastated, hurt, and angry and there will be more to this story in the future.

Sadder Than Sad
January 6, 2004 For the third day in a row, Abbie has cried about her brother running away to Oklahoma! She sobs, big heavy sobs and is so very sad.

It's been nearly 7 weeks since he suddenly left and we are still devastated.

Amazing how this has disrupted, changed and hurt our family. I cried for days and weeks, and now it's only occasionally.

Especially when I see it affect Abbie the way it does, I can't help but cry. Then I get angry and hurt all over again. Guess I will have to talk with Dr. V  next week about this. I need to start learning how to deal with this significant change and my feelings about it all.

I've been telling Ab that she needs to tell Bubba how she feels. Today, she "talked" with him a little on the Instant Messenger with tears staining her cheeks the whole time as she cried continuously.
