Whats marriage anyhow? Just a tradition started by cavemen and encouraged by florists. actress Olivia de Havilland, in the film The Strawberry Blonde (1941)
Both of my adult children's marriages lasted about 3 years, well...sort of.
Infidelity played a part in ending each of the relationships. My son is now officially divorced and fortunately, it ended on fairly good terms.
He says he is confident that he did everything he could to salvage the marriage and with that, he felt as good as one could about divorcing, considering the circumstances.
He has matured and learned to search for what he really needs and wants in his future relationships. (And..as prompted by Mom, for the special characteristics needed to be the mother of my grandchildren!)
I feel I taught him to be a good husband by treating women with respect, love and thoughtfulness. (Additionally, I taught him how to do laundry, vacuum and do dishes!) So, I would be appalled if he ever did anything horrible to an-about-to- be-EX, like what's happening in my daughter's "marriage."
I just don't get it, and don't think I will ever understand, why two people who loved each other enough to take a vow to spend the rest of their lives together, can give it up so easily. Disposable marriage!
Then they can be just downright hateful to that person that they loved enough to marry when they decide it's over.
Done, finished! Now it's payback time for what you did to make me miserable!

good morning! It may surprise you to discover that this is my second marriage. This time I choose carefully and wisely. Pray that your children will do the same.
ReplyDelete** It really takes alot of work on both parts to have a good marriage. All our oldest friends marvel that we are still together after 30 years (I was wild) LOL. People sure can be cruel with words and actions when hurt. *Becky>>bbeckyl/HearSoul
