"Well, recently I had to go to my regular doctor because I had some major swelling in the joints in my hand, and they think I may have Rheumatoid Arthritis. They took some blood tests and they prescribed Prednisone."
She says...."Ok, ok...so when did all this happen?"
"Ummmmm, about two weeks ago."
Snippy Medical Assistant to Doctor: "Lisa has GAINED 3 1/2 lbs! Her B/P is.......Pulse is..........Respiration....and she says she's taking some medication for Rheumatoid Arthritis.....Prednisone or something?"
Dr: Ohhhhhhhhhh Prednisone! That makes you extremely hungry and causes you to retain water, just like if you were about to have a period! No wonder you gained wait!
<MAJOR SIGH> I'm not in trouble after all!
After a short lesson in how prednisone affects the adrenal gland and causes water retention, he told me he'd call me in a prescription for a diuretic!
So.....since the doctor covered for me with his Diet Police......tonite I plan on having a BIG bowl of Butter Pecan ice cream while I can still blame it on the Prednisone!
