The escrow for my re-finance closed Thursday, and I picked up the "cash-out" check! Yesssss! On with the remodeling.....paint, flooring, new furniture, a backyard, etc!
The remodeling has been in progress for several weeks and I have been paying bit by bit, robbing my savings in anticipation of the re-fi funds. Now we can continue full force, and order the new appliances, carpeting and flooring, that's so badly needed after 15 years of tough living.
So far, we've had two upstairs bedrooms painted and two bathrooms completely redone with new tile, faucets, towel racks, etc. My bedroom will be next if I can find the time to move all my worldly goods in to the guest room, so "they" can get started. I just dread the thought of having to move allllll that stuff! But, it will be worth it in the long run, since when it's completed, I will only put what's absolutely loved, necessary or functional back in there!
I've decided that I am finally going to organize my life since you can't kick your way through here the way it stands now! I've been afraid that I am turning into my mother with my tendency to have way tooooo many possessions and useless junk, so I am simplifying.
I had planned to completely switch out my dining room and kitchen by flip-flopping their locations. The present kitchen is very small and definitely made for only one cook and no helpers, and there's little cupboard or counter space. I spent a major amount of time, researching and designing the perfect kitchen, complete with every little convieniece feature I could find. Once I got my re-fi money I planned to go order the new cabinets, but today I used my "woman's perogative" and change my mind about such major remodeling.
